‘Wanderer, there is no road. The road only appears when you start walking.’ (Antonio Machado)

‘The Camino gives you what you need’ is a well-known saying among pilgrims. You only find out how a pilgrimage will unfold once you are on the road. While walking, you will inevitably face challenges – both physical and mental. You do not know in advance which challenges will come your way and, therefore, what you need. That is the mystery of pilgrimage.

It is nice to have a conversation with an experienced pilgrim before and after your departure. To exchange ideas, ask questions, express an intention for your journey, and evaluate it later, after returning home. Pilgrims at Nordic Pilgrim can turn to pilgrim and walking coach Francine Postma (www.francinepostma.nl) for a one-on-one pilgrim coaching session. This can take place either on location (in Hilversum, The Netherlands) or via Zoom. Rates:

One-and-a-half-hour online consultation: €75 incl. VAT. Two-and-a-half-hour walk across the Hilversum heath: €150 incl. VAT.

About Francine: in 2018, she walked the ‘Camino of the North’: the St. Olav’s Way from Selånger to Trondheim. She wrote a book about it: Onderweg, alleen over het St. Olavspad (https://uitgeverijfjord.com/product/onderweg/)

After her journey, she trained as a nature coach at Innersteps and was an assistant to outdoor coach Katrien de Jong. She also completed training to become a certified ‘Luisteren naar je pen©’ instructor. Nowadays, she organizes writing and reflection walks around her hometown of Hilversum and writing and reflection weekends, including on Vlieland and along Het Ziltepad.

Her third walking book will be published in May 2026: Pelgrim voor een week. Seven mini Caminos to peace, space, and yourself – including a walk along the St. Birgitta Way in Sweden.
